SOME residents in Ilorin, Kwara State today held a peaceful protest to the Governors office.

The residents, who were seen carrying placards with various inscriptions were protesting the appalling condition of some of the drainages, which have given way after the heavy downpour which fell consecutively for three days this week.

Some of the protesters averred that the flood waters created as a result, overflowed and entered into their houses.

The flood sacked the affected areas, which purported the protest from the residents in a bid to seek immediate government intervention to the drainage system.

When one of correspondents put a call through to a highly placed government official, he opined that the committee on Drainage and Flood Control headed by Dr. Amuda Kannike, who is also the Commissioner for Works, are currently looking at the grievances and the request of the protesters and have been mandated to look into the matter to forestall future occurrence.
