THE Independent National Electoral Commission has approved the extension of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise in the Kwara State.
A statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Ilorin, signed by the Commission’s State Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Barr. Jacob Ayanda, said the seven-day exercise will begin on Monday Sept. 22 to Sat. Sept. 27, at the Local Government Area Offices of the Commission.
According to the statement, the Phase two of the exercise which the State is inclusive became necessary because of widespread requests from Nigerians who are eager to get registered for onward participation in future electoral processes.
It however noted that the extension was for only eligible individuals who had not registered before, adding that those whose Permanent Voter Cards were not printed should not re-register as their PVC would be printed and distributed accordingly.
The statement also charged eligible registrants, political parties and all other stakeholders to be civil and orderly during the exercise, warning that party agents who may want to foment trouble at the venue of the exercise would not be tolerated.
It assured of the Commission’s readiness to conduct a hitch free exercise and implored the people to be patient and understanding to ensure the overall success of the extended exercise
