Fraudsters caught stealing from car dealers

According to reports, two men were arrested yesterday, June 21, for scamming unsuspecting car dealers in Lagos state.
The suspects have reportedly been going round issuing fake bank cheques and sending fake bank alerts to car dealers, and even going as far as stealing cars from them.
They were caught when one of their victims alerted people after discovering that their transaction was fake. According to the victim identified as Ifeanyi, his suspicions were aroused after receiving a bank alert for the payment of a particular vehicle. His worst fear was confirmed after he contacted the bank and the said money did not reflect in his account.

Another victim said the suspects had narrowly escaped being caught the last time they attempted it. Here’s what he recounted:
“The last time it happened, the bank server was down so they just allowed them to go. Later we found out that it was a fake alert, God has exposed them today.”

The suspects have however confessed to stealing two cars from the place they were caught in New Way park, Berger, after they narrowly escaped lynching from an angry mob.

According to the Lagos state police spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos, the suspects are in their custody and the case hasn’t been reported at the Kirikiri police division.
